Mansion 462 is a dance club/bar on West Franklin in Chapel Hill that incorporates all types of music, from blues and bluegrass to hip hop and techno. Their logo design was to reflect their high class feel since the interior of the place looks nice and cushy.

Feminine Future is a book that explains how women have a lot of marketing power. And yes, us men already know they have a lot of power already in other areas … but here comes more proof of power. Man, the balance of power is now freakishly out of whack. The book’s logo design incorporates the old (Mona Lisa) with new (computer pixels).

Citrine Salon is a brand new salon concept opening in Chapel Hill, NC, that will be completely green. Aside from their great salon services, they will also be a completely paperless office. The owner is a great woman and has so much excitement and energy for this store that there’s no doubt in my mind that she will be an amazing success. A cutting edge, world-loving salon. Refreshing. They wanted a logo design that is simple and clean with the colors of the citrine crystal, which signifies healing energy.

Dale Brothers Spiced Popcorn is an amazing blend of spices coated onto popcorn that makes your tastebuds do backflips. It’s always a welcome addition to any party or any great movie. Just bring a lot or else it’ll go quick. This logo design was meant to be playful yet mouth-watering. Using warm colors tends to make your tastebuds warm up. Okay, I’ll admit it … this popcorn is the creation of my brother and mine, so I’m a bit biased.

Bringbacks is a Chapel Hill-based startup company modeling its business plan after some wildly successful businesses out west.

The business plan is simple: You call them needing a ride home, they come to you in a collapsable moped, throw it in your trunk, drive you home in your car, drive back in their moped. Genius!

As far as the logo design concept, we tried to boil down the idea to the nuts and bolts: handing off the keys ended up being the best idea of the bunch.

I created this logo design waaaay back in the day while working for the News of Orange County in Hillsborough, NC. They have a recurring column in which they ask a local person six questions. I always thought the column was a very interesting slice-of-life piece and deserved an interesting logo design to boot.

Visionary, Inc. needed a corporate identity for their budding company. Their main identity began with this logo design treatment. They are a cool company who needed a pair of cool shades. Visionary is now in the business of party promotions but will eventually grow into its own production studio.

Nemo Labs logo design

Nemo Labs, a creative solutions company, wanted a logo design that represented their name, quite simply, but also had a creative flair. Captain Nemo hunted Moby Dick just like creative professionals hunt great ideas, so an orange whale just had to be the representative for their company. The color evokes the futuristic, “different” take on a simple concept to make the logo design stand out from the crowd. Initially, I drew the whale in Illustrator and then imported it into Photoshop to add the 3d reflective effects.
